While Bryan Singer wastes time turning Tom Cruise into a Nazi for Valkyrie instead of making his next Superman movie, super-dude Brandon Routh is keeping busy working for other people. His next movie is a film called The Informers, and Variety says Billy Bob Thornton and Kim Basinger have just joined the cast.

Based on a series of stories by Bret Easton Ellis, The Informers is a period piece set in 1983, and it’s described as taking place in the “chillingly nihilistic world” of Los Angeles. It’s an intersecting stories movie, but instead of the boring, angst-ridden archetypes we’ve seen in every other Crash clone this one uses morally challenged characters like movie executives, rock stars, and a vampire. That’s right, a vampire. Why do I have this strange desire to see Billy Bob Thornton as a cranky, southern vamp in a cowboy hat?

There’s no word on exactly which part any of the actors involved will play. In addition to Thornton, Basinger, and Routh; Austin Nichols, Ashley Olsen, Jon Foster, and Lou Pucci are in the ensemble’s cast.
