Billy Bob Thornton has joined the cast of the new Shia LaBeouf/DJ Caruso team-up Eagle Eye according to Clint at Moviehole. LaBeouf and Caruso worked together previously on a mediocre, comedy-free remake of The Burbs, Disturbia.

So Caruso is back directing and Shia is starring. Where does that leave Billy Bob? It leaves him doing something besides rehashing his Bad Santa character over and over again. Doesn’t matter what it is, it’ll be an improvement on the crap he’s been cranking out lately. MH says the script really gives him something juicy, and it’s been awhile since Billy Bob attempted anything of substance.

Eagle Eye casts Shia as a young slacker who along with a single mother (Michelle Monaghan) gets tangled up in an assassination being plotted by a terrorist cell. Rosario Dawson is also in the movie, probably as some sort of agent. Thornton may be playing a similar character, presumably one who wears cowboy boots.
