Blomkamp's Elysium Finds A Release Date![]()
Neill Blomkamp’s much-anticipated follow up to 2009’s District 9 has finally found a release date, but it’s not coming as soon as you may have been hoping. According to THR, Elysium is still two years away, slated for a March 8, 2013 release just in time for both Easter and Spring breaks.
Unlike most films two years from release, Elysium already has its main cast lined up including its leads Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, and returning District 9 star Sharlto Copley. Also recently added to the bill is Brazilian actor Wagner Moura, who, as announced yesterday will be playing the bad guy. It’s good to see that in Elysium’s future world we still have a little racial diversity. Blomkamp is keeping the plot a secret for now but the few details we do know are the Matt Damon will be playing an ex-convict and that social classes play a major role in the world. Everything else is locked away in Blomkamp’s genius mind. Never the one to be worried about a quick paycheck, Blomkamp is taking his time with this one, as there will be a four year gap between District 9 and Elysium. He has to prove that he’s not just a one hit wonder so it’s nice to see him taking great care with this one and not just pushing it out the door. More on Elysium as details unravel. |
