Boll To Film Zombie Massacre![]()
Do you hear that sound video game fans? That’s the sound of another franchise being raped and murdered by German filmmaker (and we use that term loosely), Uwe Boll. The director, who has ruined Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne, and Dungeon Siege (which hasn’t even come out yet but looks so bad we’ll include it here), has just gotten his hands on the rights to Zombie Massacre. Just what we needed: Boll ruining both video games and zombie movies.
The video game plot puts the players in charge of driving a nuclear warhead into the center of a zombie-infested city. The players then have to make their way out of the city before the bomb explodes. I’m imagining a lot of really bad, artificially tense moments with cats, rats, and just about everything else jumping out to create false jumps. Mix in some poorly rendered explosions and zombie armies and I’m probably imagining a better picture than what we’ll get. Boll is setting his sights high for the adaptation, which will be produced in Vancouver next year on a $6 million budget. According to Game Daily BIZ the director wants to create a “harsh zombie movie” on par with Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later. Let’s try for a commercially viable picture before aiming for brilliant social commentary and a revitalization of the genre. And lets hope Boyle has another picture up his sleeve to revive the zombie franchise again after Boll most likely kills it. |
