I don’t think I would have picked Jon Bon Jovi as one of the lasting talents of the ‘80s, but you have to admit the musician has endured the rigors of time. He’s even stretched himself from providing music for movie soundtracks (Young Gun’s II being one of his best) to appearing in front of the camera in everything from U-571 to “The West Wing.” I guess it’s no wonder he’s managed to keep his career going over several decades.

Now Bon Jovi is extending himself again, this time into producing. Along with his music managers Jack Rovner and Ken Levitan, Bon Jovi has acquired the rights to Almost Home, an upcoming fiction debut by Jessica Blank which tells the story of a group of homeless teens in L.A. trying to find themselves. The plan is for Blank to adapt the book into a screenplay along with her husband, Erik Jenson with bon Jovi, Rovner, and Levitan producing, according to Variety.

What is particularly interesting about this story is that the book (which hasn’t even hit stores yet) is being released by Disney’s Hyperion Books for Children. You’d think if there was adaptation potential in the story, Disney would have jumped right on it instead of letting musical figureheads get a hold of the possibilities – especially musical figureheads with no production experience whatsoever.

Almost Home, the book by Jessica Blank, hits stores October 23rd. No timetable has been set for the movie yet.
