Bond 50 Is Bestselling Blu-ray Box Set Of 2012

Bond 50 is a really cool set, coming with all 22 famous films, over 122 hours of bonus features that seriously cover almost any aspect of the films you could ever think of, and even offers an empty slot fans can place Skyfall into when that movie eventually hits Blu-ray and DVD. Despite the steep asking price of the set, which runs for $299, fans of 007 have been snapping up the series left and right, earning the best profit for a Blu-ray box set in 2012, which is impressive for a release that has been on the market for less than three months.
Of course, that announcement comes from the mouths of those at Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, who actually produced and distributed the set, so we’ll have to take it with a bit of a grain of salt. The really impressive numbers are that the set is projected to bring in $50 million from sales. That’s a heck of a way to ring in the franchise’s 50th Anniversary, and while the numbers may not compare to something as epic as the number of copies The Avengers has sold, it’s still pretty impressive. It’s no wonder Bond 50 has gone over so well with audiences in the U.K. and the U.S. The set hit the market at the perfect time in September. The release was just in time for audiences to get excited about James Bond all over again, thanks to Skyfall hitting theaters. Beyond that, the set came out within the perfect amount of time for that excitement to carry over into holiday purchases. That’s a job well done for whatever marketing strategist came out with the release plan. Back to top
