The next James Bond film Casino Royale is still due out this fall, but the as-of-yet-untitled follow up to it, Bond 22 has been kicked back a few months.
Columbia Pictures made the announcement on Friday. The film had originally been scheduled for May 2, 2008, but now they're shooting for November 7, 2008 instead. That gives them two years between Bond movies, which is the distance that used to be left between Brosnan's films.
To me, the smarter move would be to cancel Bond 22 altogether, at least until they see how Bond 21 does. Audiences remain skeptical about Craig, and there's a good chance Casino Royale might end up as a flop. Daniel Craig is signed on for another movie, but right now they don't have a director. So what's the rush to stake a date? It's two years off.

Postponing Bond 22 is a disappointment, because it would have premiered on Ian Fleming's 100th birthday.
No Bond film has ever been a flop and "Casino Royale"
is not going to be the exception. If anything, curiosity about a new Bond should drive the film to success at the box office.
Brosnan was good and I think he had another Bond film in him. Fandom would have like to seen that, but we are not the one's in control. We'll just have to wait and see.
