Bourne 4 Is On!

Even though almost everyone involved with the franchise has been pretty adamant that the third film would be the last in the series, it looks like Universal Pictures is going ahead with a fourth Bourne movie. Variety says a Bourne 4 is “on tap” and figures prominently into Universal Pictures’ future plans.

The question is whether any of the principals will have anything to do with it. There is no movie without Matt Damon, but Damon has said in the past he’d only be interested in returning to the character “maybe years down the road”, and even then only if the last two movies’ director Paul Greengrass is helming it. Greengrass on the other hand is in heavy demand, as one of Hollywood’s best directors. It seems unlikely that he’d want to do another movie right after the last one, even if The Bourne Ultimatum was one of the best movies of the year and won two Oscars.

But despite the unlikelihood of either Greengrass or Damon returning so soon, apparently Universal has managed to lock both of them up for a fourth Bourne movie. Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass are indeed coming back for Bourne 4. My feelings are a little mixed here. The third movie was so incredible, it seems like it’d be almost impossible to top it, and it really was a great place to end the series. There’s nothing like going out on a high note. On the other hand, through three movies Bourne has gotten better with every installment. I’m definitely not tired of the character and there are plenty of places left to take him. We haven’t had enough of Jason Bourne.

I just finished watching the third movie (oh.my.god. that was awesome), hence the reason I'm online searching for information on whether or not they're going to make a fourth. I'm SO happy that they are.

I remember when some of my family members went to see Ultimatum at the theater...and when they got back, they told me, "Meh, it was all right..." Now I'm sitting here wondering what in the hell is wrong with all of them! But we are talking about James Bond fans. Bond sucks, give me more Bourne!

The Three Bourne movies are the best action films ever made. As long as the next movies keep being this good, there should not be a reason to stop making them. People do not get tired of good movies. Jason Bourne has become a world icon, his character is the coolest one ever, and I just can't get enough.

James Bond sucks!! The people demand more Jason Bourne! The Bourne trilogy are some of the best movies made in the last ten years.

All the movies were great, but the 3 movie was amazing. if they make a fourth movie they should use more from the books, by providing us with a confrontation of jason bourne against carlos the jackal
i think that would be pretty good.

u r right,the next one should probably focus on niki and webb.those words'its difficult for me with u"&"u really don't remember anything dont u"surely requires explanation!cant wait for the 4th installment.it should reallybe done.i mean why not when with each story ur raising the standerd and setting the benchmark for action films.paul greengrass is a genius,and matt damon needs nothing to prove,he is the best there is when playing a serius role such as jason bourne!no one comes even close to give life to these characters as he does,damon is a must for the next film!!!!!

I think it need to go on not in a James Bond type series but because the end of the 3rd movie left you wanting to see what is going to happen to David Webb aka Jason Bourne not all questions were answered which is a great way to end a movie that holds so much thrill and suspense but also leaves room for more information on his life which has been lost to him which i think most watchers want to know but also asks the question of what is to happen to Bourne now that it seems his mission is over. Could he become a spy again? Would he want to go home to the life he had before or will he just start anew Questions that still will leave you wanting more after the 3rd movie so in my opinion there should be a last movie to answer the untold and so it does not tern into a joke as bond is now.

@Peter Evans It is obvious Bourne and Nikki Parsons will hook up. I would bet you will find that those two were an item when he was David Webb, now he has his real identity back, he will get his first love back. Maybe she was the one that got him into the program, she is CIA after all.

The movies were good, the books are way better.

Also Robert ludlum only wrote 3 of the Bourne books as he passed away in 2001, Eric Van Lustbader wrote the other three.

I agree with Mr. Basile about the producers leaving the end of 'Ultimatum' open for a Jason Bourne/Nicki Parsons hookup. It would be a natural plot progression. As for you guys who say that 3 Bourne films are enough, they've been cranking out James Bond films since 1963 and those movies STILL draw big audiences. I think Jason Bourne is alot more believable than 007. Keep the sequels coming. Just don't try to turn Shia LeBouf(sp?) into Bourne after Matt Damon decides he's had enough.

I hope that they use a tripod to film this one. I felt like the last one was almost unwatchable due to the camera work. The first one was perfect but then they decided use the hand-held style. I guess it's like Tony Soprano said "there's nothing like popping up some Orville Redenbacher and listening to Men in Black"

i agree with all this. the 3rd was a perfect way to end the series, he figures out what's up, stops the bad guys, and gets away.
also though, i cant get enough of bourne, i've already seen the whole series 3 times. i just wonder how in the world they can top the 3rd film!

well the last one was so ovious the ending was soo OPEN meaning that they going to make a new one but the name is ok like randomuser says it should call "The Bourne Legacy" but lets see what happens to this one

The Bourne Legacy Perfect name for it. None better. I have been waiting for 3 movies for him to get together with Julia Stiles as there characters are perfectly matched and both working together aka the 1st movie methods would be superb as she can play a smart women role, all too missing in movies these past 50 years.

If they miss this opportunity it would really be a shame as it is not easy to find smart actresses/actors...especially actresses. Get her in the gym, give her some H/IQ lines and some moves and they would make a Legacy all right.

Not that anyone meaningful reads anything on the RetardNet but hey.
