Brad Pitt Producing Spy Thriller![]()
A number of spy writers have gone into the business with some firsthand knowledge of espionage, Ian Fleming being perhaps the most famous example. But it's rare to get a guy making the spy movie who has any experience with the real-life counterparts, which is why Robert Edwards is such an exciting guy to watch right now.
He'll be adapting John Le Carre's thriller The Night Manager for Brad Pitt's Plan B productions. Edwards, who wrote and directed 2006's Land of the Blind, was an intelligence officer during the Gulf War, meaning he probably has all kinds of secrets he'd kill us for knowing. Variety doesn't say if he'll be directing the film, but it sure is a tempting idea to use him to lend credibility to a series that might inevitably get compared to Bourne. The movie will follow a night manager at a hotel in Europe who gets swept up by intelligence agents to help infiltrate an international arms deal network. I have no idea why a hotel manager would be qualified for this job, but I'm sure it's all explained in due time. No word on whether or not Brad PItt would act in the film, but it's definitely something I wouldn't mind seeing. And who better to trust with United States secrets than dreamy Brad? |
