Breck Eisner Tapped For The Brood Remake![]()
Back in November, I wrote an article about a remake of David Cronenberg's The Brood. In that story I remarked how the original was a piece very close to the director, and that it would be hard, bordering on impossible, for any director to reach that level to propel the project to success. Now the project has found its director, and it is as disappointing as I figured it would be.
In the same Los Angeles Times article in which Carl Rinsch was announced as Breck Eisner's replacement for The Creature from the Black Lagoon, it says that Eisner has signed on to direct the Cronenberg remake, based on the script by Carl Goodman. Be it on purpose or not, Eisner is digging himself a nice hole as a "horror-remake director," right alongside Alexandre Aja and Dennis Iliadis. For those that don't know, Eisner is the director of next year's George A. Romero-remake The Crazies, his first step into the genre, and now, more than ever, I am curious to see what Eisner does with his February release, because if he isn't able to handle Romero will full force, there is no way that he should be allowed near a Cronenberg gem. |
