I’m really starting to miss the Brendan Fraser who could, you know, act. Don’t get me wrong, he’s really good at running around and screaming at invisible things which will be digitally added later, but there was a time when the guy seemed well on his way to being taken seriously as well. Ok maybe it was a brief window but I can’t be the only one who saw Gods and Monsters. Or what about With Honors? He was pretty good in that.
Those days are I suppose, long gone. Variety reports that he’s signed up for yet another live-action family comedy. This one is called Angry Critters, in which Fraser plays a real estate developer whose new housing subdivision is attacked by a band of angry critters after it pushes into the Oregon wilderness.
Wait a minute, where have I heard this before? Oh yeah, Over the Hedge. Same movie, just told from the animal perspective. Great, so now Brendan Fraser is making Over the Hedge: The Humans Strike Back. Alright but he’d better involve William Shatner as an overly dramatic possum, otherwise I’m out.
