Brett Ratner Making God Of War

By Josh Tyler: 2008-09-30 17:01:40
Brett Ratner Making God Of War If you’re not familiar with God of War, the game was a pretty big deal back in 2005. It won game of the year honors from several different sources, and people loved it for its extreme violence, sexual encounters with naked women, and oh yeah, the game play was pretty good. It’s the story of a Spartan warrior named Kratos who serves the gods of Greece by carrying out various missions for them.

There have been rumblings for quite awhile that it might be turned into a movie and now it looks like the movie version has a director. Brace yourselves, it’s Brett Ratner.

Ratner himself delivered the movie’s doom in an interview with UGO, in which he revealed that God of War is one of several projects he’s planning which he’s waiting for “green lights to come in” on. He offered no further details than that, so if you’re a God of War fan, I guess your only hope here is that the green light never comes in. Otherwise, looks like Ratner’s gotten his hands on yet another fanboy franchise to ruin.

Man i sure am tired about hearing how Brett Ratner ruined this, and ruined that (especially X-Men). Could you fill me in as to exactly what was wrong with the movies, other than the fact that everybody else says they were terrible and you're jumping on a critic bandwagon? I've read a few X-Men comics in my day, but I won't pretend to be a fanboy. But what the fan boys have got to keep in mind is, the movies were Ratner's vision, not theirs. If they (you) didn't like the movies, they should probably just make their own.

And just one more thing while I'm on this rant, if you'll stop whining long enough to get off your high horse and watch those movies again, you might just notice that they're actually pretty entertaining.

I LOVE Brett Ratner! And I LOVE God of War (One of my favorite games EVER! Read my rants), so I don't see what the problem is here. I just hope Brett gets Djimon Hounsou as David Jaffe wanted. He would make the PERFECT Kratos. Absolutely perfect.

  1. Ash Says:

Brett Ratner is a terrible director. His vision of Xmen 3 was so terrible that it equates to Joel Schumacher's vision of Batman & Robin. Yes, Xmen 3 is the Batman & Robin of the Xmen Universe.

Brett Ratner made one god movie called Rush Hour, then delivered two more with absolutely the same jokes and material, but in different locations. He should be making made for TV ABC Family movies.

He will definitely ruin God of War because he doesn't have any real talent.

On request from another commenter, I will respond why Xmen 3 was terrible. First, the movie had 13 different plots going on at the same time. Second, none of the plots actually came together, and if two or three did, they were done terribly. The dialogue was bad. If you know anything about Xmen, you cannot bring the entire series to a close in 1 and half hours. The first two movies in the series spent so much time developing the characters and story. Xmen 2 was done really well, combining story and action successfully. Brett Ratner's Xmen 3 was all action and no substance. He made a Rush Hour movie with mutants instead of Tucker and Chan. The characters who were developed in the previous two movies didn't exist for long in the third movie (Cyclops and Rogue). The third part should have been split into TWO different 2 hour long movies if they wanted to end the series. So, Xmen 3 = Spiderman 3 = Batman & Robin. Three terrible movies which are the Batman & Robins of the series.
And now for my personal view: Stupid, terrible new characters were introdcued. The casting wasn't that great. It is possible to make a great Marvel/super hero movie while staying true to the ORIGINAL material that made it so famous in the firstplace. See Ironman. See Dark Knight.
