I found very little to criticize in the blockbuster comedy Bridesmaids, but I do wish that the movie had given more on-screen time to Wendi McLendon-Covey. Incredibly funny and exhibiting no boundaries when it comes to language, she was not only great as part of the group, but was also paired perfectly with Ellie Kemper (who also didn't get nearly as much time as she should have). Let's hope that Steven Soderbergh plans to use her a lot more.

According to THR, Wendi McLendon-Covey has joined the ranks of Sodbergh's male stripper movie Magic Mike. Based on Channing Tatum's experiences as a dancer prior to being an actor, the story is about a veteran who takes a rookie under his wing and shows him how to live both on stage and off. McLendon-Covey joins a cast that already includes Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey,Matt Bomer, Cody Horn, Riley Keough, Olivia Munn and Gabriel Iglesias. The story doesn't include any details about the character that she may be playing. Reid Carolin, who wrote the scripts for both Tatum's Stop Loss and the upcoming Ten Year, both wrote the script and is producing along with Tatum, Nick Wechsler, and Gregory Jacobs.

If the film does end up being a straight drama, it will be interesting to see how McLendon-Covey performs. Basically everything that she's done before, from Bridesmaids to Reno 911, has fallen under the "comedy" label. At the very least we can hope that they throw one or two jokes her way. This is a movie about male strippers; they have to give audiences at least a couple moments to laugh.
