Brittany Murphy Pinch Hits For Lindsay Lohan

Brittany Murphy Pinch Hits For Lindsay Lohan Brittany Murphy hasn’t exactly racked up a career worth of memorable performances or gotten a reputation for serious acting talent, but you can say one thing for her: she’s not known for heading off to rehab every few months, crashing her Mercedes on a regular basis, or wearing pants that don’t belong to her. That’s what makes her a good replacement for Lindsay Lohan in the indie comedy Poor Things, which The Hollywood Reporter says she may be joining.

The movie was scheduled to begin filming over the summer, until Lohan headed back to rehab. It had been delayed indefinitely, but Murphy stepping into the role could definitely get things started. The movie stars Shirley MacLaine and Olympia Dukakis as two older women who decide to start their lives over again as con artists. They’re not exactly innocent, though: they befriend and then kill homeless men to carry off their crimes. Scott Marshall has joined as director, replacing previous director Ash Baron-Cohen after he departed due to “creative differences.”

I mainly feel sorry for this movie at this point, given that it got completely thrown under the bus by its irresponsible star. For the sake of Shirley MacLaine, maybe we should all cross our fingers that Murphy doesn’t somehow fall off the wagon as well? Or, even better, hope that this movie is really good so Miss Lohan shapes up, realizes what she’s missing out on, dyes that lovely hair back to red and gets her shit together. Yeah, that’s what I’m going with on this. Help us, Brittany Murphy! You’re our only hope!
