Brosnan Takes His Bond To Comedy![]()
James Bond may be behind him, but Pierce Brosnan isn't done spying. He's lined up new spy franchise called Spy vs. Stu. Unfortunately, it's a comedy.
Though the name bears a certain similarity, it has nothing to do with Mad Magazine. Instead, the film's "original" script from Keith Mitchell and Allie Dvorin seems to be ripping off something else. See if you can figure it out. Variety says Spy vs. Stu is about a commitment phobic guy named Stu who plans to pop the question to his girlfriend while on an island vacation. Brosnan revisits his 007 stereotype to play a debonair spy on the other end of the island who's just finished saving the world and needs a break. He decides to take a break with Stu's girl and Stu ends up competing with him for his girl's affections. Figured out why it sounds so familiar? No? Then I guess you've never seen Honeymoon in Vegas, a 1992 movie which starred Sarah Messica Parker, James Caan, and Nicolas Cage in the story of a commitment phobic groom whose bride ends up being wooed by a wealthy gambler after her husband-to-be loses her in a poker game. I'm sure this is completely different. After all, it's set on an Island and therefore has absolutely nothing to do with Vegas. Right? |
