Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi have been attached at the hip. Though Campbell hasn't actually starred in any of Raimi's movies since 1992's Army of Darkness, the director has always given his acting pal an awesome cameo, be it his appearance at the end of Darkman or his three different roles in the Spider-Man trilogy. Back in August Campbell said that this pattern would continue with Raimi's Oz: The Great and Powerful, tweeting, "I. Am. In. Oz. Sam Raimi refuses to tell me what character I will portray. Just know that the role is PIVOTAL. " Sadly, however, it must not have been as pivotal as he thought because apparently he's been cut from the film.

Once again using Twitter to reach out to his fans, Campbell is now saying that he will not be in Oz: The Great And Powerful, and, what's even worse, his scene will not be available as an outtake on the home release because they're not even filmming it. "News: my scene in Oz has been cut before shooting," Campbell said. "It happens on epic flicks. Disappointed, but all good w/Sam. On to the next adventure!" Currently in production, the movie is an origin tale, recounting how Oz, played by James Franco, made it to the Emerald City. Also in the film are Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff, Joey King, Abigail Spencer and Bill Cobbs.

You know what I think? I think this is a ploy. Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are the exact kind of guys that will say something is not happening just so that you're more surprised when it does. Either that or I want Campbell to be in the film so much that I only hope that's the case. Guess we'll just have to wait until March 8, 2013 to find out.
