When you're in need of spiritual guidance, who do you turn to? Some religious figure? Those guys who wrote the Chicken Soup for the Soul books? OK, how about manning up and turning to the most red-blooded, bandana-wearing, car-driving American there is, who isn't afraid to vote Democrat and donate to charity. If you can't turn to Bruce Springsteen and see the light, well, my friend, you're either not from Jersey or not currently working in Hollywood.
Springsteen, who released an album last year to quiet acclaim, will apparently be popping up in two upcoming movies, at least if Judd Apatow has his way. CHUD reports that Springsteen has written a song for Darren Aronofsky's Jersey-set The Wrestler; Aronofsky wrote on his MySpace blog "It is a wonderful acoustic piece. Makes me choke up every time I hear it." But the Boss may show up onscreen as well, with a part written specifically for him in Apatow's forthcoming Funny People.
"He's written into the script in a hilarious scene where he attempts to deliver some spiritual guidance," writes CHUD's Devin, noting the similarity to a scene in High Fidelity in which Springsteen appears to Cusack's character to offer advice. No clue how Springsteen might fit into a drama-comedy about the world stand-up comedy, but why ask questions when you have the chance to see Bruce hang out with Eric Bana or Seth Rogen in a Judd Apatow movie? Springsteen hasn't officially agreed to appear in the movie, and High Fidelity is his only previous movie role. But if Apatow has as much clout as we've been led to believe, we're all set to receive some advice from the Boss himself.
