Bruce Willis In Talks To Train An American Assassin
Bruce Willis is in talks to join the CIA once again. The actor, who played a member of the agency as recently as The Expendables 2, is currently negotiating for a part in American Assassin, a new thriller from director Jeffrey Nachmanoff. Based on a script by Mike Finch, the film is about a young man named Mitch Rapp who joins the CIA "after his girlfriend his killed by a terrorist attack." Should he sign on for the project, Willis will play Rapp's mentor.
The film will be Nachmanoff's first feature since 2008's Traitor, which starred Don Cheadle. But while the filmmaker hasn't spent much time on the big screen as of late he has kept busy on television, directing episodes of shows such as Chicago Fire, Homeland and Detroit 1-8-7. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, whom Willis worked with on both Red and the upcoming Red 2, is serving as a producer on the film. Variety says that once Willis is locked in they will begin their search for their lead. Production will begin late next year.
Fans of Willis must be excited right now because their favorite actor is all over the place nowadays. In addition to having Moonrise Kingdom and the aforementioned Expendables 2 out earlier this year, Lay The Favorite premiered at Sundance this past January, The Cold Light of Day is out this weekend, Looper is out later this month, Fire with Fire premieres in November and he already has G.I. Joe: Retaliation and A Good Day To Die Hard ready for 2013 releases. Production on Red 2 will begin later this year.
