Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno will have an audience no matter when it opens, with Borat fans returning for what they hope is just as outrageous and hilarious a comedy. The producers have smartly realized this, and pushed the thing from a mid-may release date to July 10, a lull between the Fourth of July tentpoles and Harry Potter that should give the European fashion reporter plenty of breathing room.
Variety notes that Bruno will be up against another comedy, I Love You Beth Cooper, but given that it's directed by Chris Columbus and stars Hayden Panettiere, it seems like a very different kind of comedy. So it'll be the clash of the laughs on July 10, before Harry Potter comes along and blows everybody away.
