Bryan Cranston May Join World War Z For Small But Flashy Role![]()
Since Max Brooks’ World War Z novel is basically a series of short stories told from the point of view of different people who lived through the zombie apocalypse, we can probably be safe in assuming that more headlines like this one will emerge as these vignettes get cast.
We know already that Brad Pitt will be the lead in the film as the interviewer compiling the first person accounts of the war, but according to THR, Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston is in talks to pick up a “small, but flashy” role in this unique zombie story. Already on board is Mireille Enos, currently starring in AMC’s The Killing, and James Badge Dale who starred in AMC’s Rubicon. So basically World War Z is the AMC show right now, but I expect the cast to expand pretty quickly. The book is filled with a ton of one-off anecdotes about the great zombie war, so there’s plenty of options where Cranston will fit and shine, making it nearly impossible to guess where he’ll wind up. There’s a story about a Dirigible pilot who goes down in a zombie infested forest that was most memorable when I read it, and I could see Cranston fitting in there, though it’s not the flashiest of the roles. Likelier he’ll be the leader of one of the larger resistance groups that Pitt’s character will learn about. Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster is still helming World War Z which is currently in production for a 2012 release. |
