After all his success with Superman Returns, and his recent commitment to do a sequel to it, I'd have put the chances of Singer returning to save his X-Men franchise from the clumsy cast iron fingers of Brett Ratner at about zero. Moviehole however says the chances are much better than zero.
They quote a story in the Honolulu Advertiser which says Singer may actually come back. To them, he acknowledged that he has been approached by Fox to direct the fourth X-Men movie. That Fox is even approaching him is good news. The bad news is that he says he doesn't think he'll have time to do the fourth X-Men. He does however, have interest in taking a look at Wolverine.
Alright, so maybe we can't get X-Men out of the clutches of Ratner, but if Singer could step back in and at least start Wolverine off on the right path, that could be huge. It's also great to know that even though X3 made a boatload of money, Fox's executives don't have their heads all the way up their asses and recognize that making another movie of similar quality probably wouldn't be a good thing for the franchise. I guess they've seen Batman & Robin.
