We've been waiting for Bryan Singer's adaptation of Jack The Giant Killer for quite a while now. Taking over the project last September, the movie was initially going to start filming back in July but got delayed until 2011 because the director wanted more time to figure out the visuals. What's truly bizarre, however, is that the film is only getting the greenlight now.

Deadline reports that Singer's take on the "Jack and the Beanstalk" myth has officially been given the go-ahead and casting has officially begun. Just as was mentioned back in May, Singer has been looking at Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson for the title role, though nothing has been made official or locked in. Production is currently scheduled to begin next spring.

When you consider the amount of work being put into developing the film's visuals, it becomes evident that Singer and crew are developing something quite big. Expect the casting of Jack to blow up very soon.
