Bubba Nosferatu Is Dead To Elvis![]()
Bubba Nosferatu is dead. Over. Done with. Not happening.
Okay, maybe it’s not that drastic, but it might as well be. Bruce Campbell has re-confirmed that he is not part of the sequel to Bubba Ho-Tep, and done so in such a way that removes all doubt: he’s not going to be in it. “[BUBBA NOSFERATU] is dead to me. It sleeps with the fishes,” Campbell told Fangoria Radio this week. That makes it pretty clear Campbell’s not involved with the film, although thankfully he expanded and gave a little more rationale to the decision: Don Coscarelli is a very passionate filmmaker. We got to a few points [developing the screenplay] that we couldn’t reconcile. I want to keep our friendship, so we parted ways. So I’m not part of that project.” This is a heck of a lot more specific than the news from Paul Giamatti we reported over the weekend. This is a definitive “no” for Bruce, which makes one wonder: will there ever be a Bubba Nosferatu? On that matter, director Don Cascarelli finally speaks, telling Fangoria that he is considering recasting the role of aged-Elvis with an equally fan-favorite style actor. Who that could possibly be, if anyone, isn’t revealed however, so I expect Bubba Ho-Tep to be a stand alone picture. The episode of Fangoria Radio is pretty detailed, with Campbell going into detail on some of his greatest failures (admitting The Man With the Screaming Brain could have been better), some success (Burn Notice has been picked up for a second season), and what could have been (Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash). Sadly, Bubba Nosferatu is now part of that latter category… at least with Bruce Campbell in it. |
