Burnett Hardly Hears The Whos![]()
Let’s face it, the live-action incarnations of Dr. Seuss’ work have been disastrous. From the overly-dark How the Grinch Stole Christmas to the seemingly drug-induced Cat in the Hat, it’s clear that Seuss writings work best in the imagination where his iambic tetrameter can run amuck.
20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios have taken the computer-generated route with the latest Seuss screen adaptation, Horton Hears a Who, and Carol Burnett is the latest comedian to join the likes of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell in the film’s voice cast, reports AWN Headline News The story tells the tale of Horton, an elephant who hears a small speck of dust talking to him, and as it turns out, that speck of dust is actually a planet inhabited by the Whos of Who-ville. Burnett is cast to voice a skeptical Kangaroo who doesn’t believe that the speck is a planet. The film is being directed by Jimmy Hayward and Steve Martino, while the screen adaptation is penned by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. The film is slated for a March 14, 2008 release and will also feature the voice stylings of Seth Rogen, Will Arnett, Isla Fisher, Dan Fogler, Amy Poehler, Dane Cook, Jami Pressly and Jonah Hill. |
