Burton Shoots A Flat Wonderland image
People are certainly excited about Tim Burton’s upcoming Alice in Wonderland. After all, a concept art image of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter has been enough to make people go ga-ga. So here’s some news on the filming of Burton’s take on Lewis Carroll’s classic tale.

Apparently plans for Buton’s movie to be shot in 3-D have changed. Reports from the set say Burton is using standard 2-D film cameras, with no 3-D gear in sight. This has led to concerns that perhaps Burton is nervous about shooting in 3-D, which are reasonable thoughts - after all, Burton hasn’t worked in 3-D before.

Reporting blog, Marketsaw has continued their original report with a discussion about plans to convert the 2-D picture into a 3-D presentation, and the variety of control offered by filming in 3-D versus those offered by converting a 2-D film into 3-D. If you’re a fan of 3-D filmmaking, it might be worthwhile to click over and read the comments being made there.

As for me, I can’t say it really matters whether the production is 3-D or 2-D. I just want to see a decent story, which Burton is more than capable of telling, provided he stays away from the creepy vibe he brought to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
