CDC Issues A Guide To Help You During The Zombie Apocalypse image
Thanks to George Romero movies, books my Max Brooks and The Walking Dead, most people have a pretty good idea how they would act during a zombie apocalypse. Be it always aiming for the head or finding a vehicle that's both protected and has good gas mileage, media has provided plenty of tricks and suggestions, but never through official channels. That changes now.

The Center For Disease Control And Prevention - better known as the CDC - has launched a blog post that you should print out and laminate, as it may save your life someday. Now, you may be saying to yourself, "Zombies don't exist! Why is the point of this?" The answer: they don't exist yet. Posted to prepare citizens for absolutely any kind of emergency, the post has plenty of useful information, including what your emergency pack should contain:
  • Water (1 gallon per person per day)
  • Food (stock up on non-perishable items that you eat regularly)
  • Medications (this includes prescription and non-prescription meds)
  • Tools and Supplies (utility knife, duct tape, battery powered radio, etc.)
  • Sanitation and Hygiene (household bleach, soap, towels, etc.)
  • Clothing and Bedding (a change of clothes for each family member and blankets)
  • Important documents (copies of your driver’s license, passport, and birth certificate to name a few)
  • First Aid supplies (although you’re a goner if a zombie bites you, you can use these supplies to treat basic cuts and lacerations that you might get during a tornado or hurricane)
I'm personally quite happy that the United States government has decided to officially recognize the zombie threat. Unless you are prepared, you are always unsafe. It should be noted that the guide doesn't provide any assistance in the way of choosing your weapon. For that I recommend consulting the image below.
