Cameron Diaz Is Just Another Career Woman...![]()
If there's anything we've learned from comedies about women in high-powered jobs, it's this: they won't feel the same way about that job, or probably even have that job, by the end. We've seen it in everything from the Renee Zellweger crapfest New In Town to this summer's The Proposal, and Cameron Diaz will now keep the trend alive with Bobbie Sue, a comedy in which she'll play an ambulance-chasing lawyer who eventually must defend a client in a sexual discrimination case.
Variety doesn't explain how a personal injury lawyer would wind up representing a discrimination case, and something tells me the movie won't really get into that either. Dana Fox, who also unleashed What Happens in Vegas upon the world, will be tweaking the screenplay by Russell Leigh Sharman, Owen Egerton and Chris Mass. I'm still unconvinced that a brush-up by a female screenwriter will make this entire concept sound any less ridiculous. |
