Carey Mulligan Deals With Sex Addiction In Shame
Few endeavors open doors more quickly in Hollywood than making a debut film with serious indie buzz and critical acclaim. Former artist turned filmmaker Steve McQueen is learning that first hand. His 2008 effort Hunger netted him an award for best first time director at Cannes, as well as a slew of other accolades. Now he’s focusing on round two, and a couple of Hollywood’s brightest young stars are prepared to join him.
According to Irish Central, the new effort, written by McQueen and Abi Morgan, will be titled Shame and it’ll follow around a sex addict who’s life is shaken after his little sister moves in. Academy Award nominated actress Carey Mulligan will play the sister while Michael Fastbender, already familiar with McQueen from their work together on Hunger, will play the aforementioned sex addict. James Badge Dale, recently seen on The Pacific, will also play a yet to be announced role.
Filming begins in January in New York City; so, look for this either for award season next year or sometime in 2012.
