Cars 2 Delayed, Bear And The Bow Bumped- UPDATED![]()
UPDATE: Turns out this was all the result of a misunderstanding. Coming Soon is reporting that Disney chief Bob Iger in fact said Cars 2 was coming in "summer 2011," not "December 2011" as reported in the transcript. Cars 2 will stick to the June 24 release, and presumably The Bear and the Bow will stay where it was as well. We regret the confusion.
We may have to wait a little longer for the next adventures of Lightning McQueen. Coming Soon says the movie has been pushed back from its planned June 24, 2011 and will instead arrive in theaters some time in December of that year. No word on why Disney decided to move the Pixar sequel, but it could simply be that they won’t be finished. Cars 2 was originally slated for release in 2012 before Disney bumped it all the way up to summer of 2011. Or maybe they’re trying to escape the inevitable box office dominance of Transformers 3, targeted for a near enough release on July 1, 2011. The movie could have implications for other Disney movies though. When last it was discussed the Pixar movie The Bear and the Bow was slated for release in December of 2011. If Cars 2 stays in December, Bear and the Bow will have to clear out. As for Cars 2, Disney has remained pretty tight lipped about the plot. What we do know is that the film takes Lightning and his friends overseas and into the world if international racing. I expect at least one car with an outrageous French accent. |
