Cars to Run in 2006

Disney/Pixar is pushing Cars back off it’s 2005 release date all the way to June 2006. Cited are all kinds of corporate speak stock answers about release patterns and how this will make the movie even better. I’m not buying it. The Cars trailer is without a doubt the single worst trailer I’ve ever seen for any computer animated movie to date, Jimmy Neutron and Shark Tale included. It was a huge ball of baby talk crap, and it looked like if the film was going to have an audience it would only be people of an age to wear diapers. That sort of limits it to those under 2 or over 85.

Hopefully, they’re pushing it back to try and save it. Or perhaps Disney got a look at what Pixar was doing and realized the Lamp Jr. people were trying to screw them over by putting out slapdash suckiness in response to the failed Disney/Pixar contract negotiations. I can’t believe Pixar would make something this bad unless it was on purpose. Something is definitely afoot here and there’s more to this changed release date than as Disney claims: “It’s more of a Summer film”. Right now it looks more like a straight to video film to me, so let’s hope they use the time to correct that.
