His name is Bond, James Bond. And his latest film is truly something to be cocky about.
Casino Royale, starring blonde Bond Daniel Craig (who, despite initial waves of protests, has been deemed the best Bond yet by several critics), scored the best weekend opening ever in the UK, earning $24 million between Friday and Sunday. It also impressed in the U.S., where it came in second place with $40,600. (Those darn penguins sure do have a way of monopolizing the market.)
However, according to Irish website RTE Entertainment, Casino Royale has taken the illegal bootlegging market to record heights: the film has been downloaded over 200,000 times since it hit theaters last weekend. People really don’t waste any time, do they?
Envisional, an Internet monitoring company, reported that two illegal versions of the film are up for grabs on file sharing networks—one from Russia which was shot over the audience’s heads, and one from Italy, which was shot in a higher quality.
Illegal methods aside, this much is clear: Bond is back. Check out our rave review of the film (watched legally, thank-you-very-much) here.
