Fans of the Chronicles of Narnia films were disappointed last week to hear that director Andrew Adamson may not be sticking around for the third picture in the series, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Adamson certainly proved his abilities with his live action directorial debut, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and fans of the books have been eagerly awaiting more from the director.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though. Before Adamson sets sail for Voyage he still has his current picture to finish, the second movie in the franchise, Prince Caspian. The movie is currently in production with release set for next year, and is steadily moving forward. In fact, the film just got it’s villain.

Much like Wardrobe, Caspian centers around a false ruler of the magical land of Narnia. In this story, that leader is King Miraz and Narniaweb.com seems to have the scoop on the casting: Italian actor/director Sergio Castellitto (Don’t Move, Arthur and the Invisibles).

If Wardrobe is an allegory for Christ, Caspian is more on par with Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The relationship between Miraz and the title character (played by Ben Barnes) bears a similarity to that of Hamlet and his uncle, also a false ruler. The story follows the Pevensie children from the first story who return to help Caspian in his fight against Miraz.
