Casting For Watchmen Director's Cartoon![]()
Zack Snyder is the hottest commodity in Hollywood right now and as a result, he has a ridiculous number of movies lined up to do after he finally released Watchmen. Actually he’s probably not going to wait that long, since Watchmen is long since done, sitting in a can on a shelf somewhere waiting for its release next month.
So Snyder is rolling on his next bunch of films. By IMDB’s count he has at least 6 lined up, but the one he’s doing first is an animated movie called Guardians of Ga'Hoole. It’s based on a series of kids books about a young owl who helps friends fight off an evil army on the island of Ga’Hoole. Hugh Jackman and Hugo Weaving have been rumored to be in the cast for awhile, and though there’s still no confirmation on them Variety does have the scoop on cast members who are sure to do voices in it. Leading the group is Jim Sturgess (last seen in 21), Geoffrey Rush, Rachael Taylor, and Hugh Jackman buddy David Wenham. The casting of Wenham in particular either confirms those Hugh Jackman rumors since they often travel in a pair… or is a signal that they couldn’t work things out with Hugh and went for the lower cost, Hugh Jackman-like alternative . Either way, you can’t go wrong with the spectacularly talented Wenham… unless of course you’re Baz Luhrman and you force him to play the cinematic equivalent of Snidely Whiplash in your sprawling Australian cowboy epic. |
