Steven Spielberg’s fun flick, Catch Me if You Can, which follows the true story of conman Frank Abignale Jr. as he gets up to such wacky escapades as pretending to be a licensed doctor and airplane pilot, is finally getting a Blu-ray release. The film will officially catch up to the new platform on December 4, 2012 and will come with plenty of equally lively bonus features.

Catch Me if You Can has a lot going for it. People love criminals who seem polished and mischievous—ala Ocean’s 11--and Spielberg’s film even attracted some big names like Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken, and Leonardo DiCaprio. This helped the movie to pull in over $350 million worldwide during the film’s initial theatrical run in 2002. That’s a pretty big success, which is why it is pretty surprising it has taken so long to bring the movie to Blu-ray.

The film will be digitally remastered for the upcoming release, which is the real bonus for getting the copy. Additionally a slew of extras will come with the set. A lot of these are the same features that came with the DVD “Special Edition” copies of the film, so if you already own a copy of the flick, you’ll have to weigh the pros and cons of having the remastered picture. Since we’re not talking about a really old film or a really high in special effects movie, like E.T. (although that’s getting a Blu-ray release, too), it may not be worth it to trade up. You can check out the specifics, below, and decide for yourself.
