Long before Jigsaw and men running around in Scream costumes, there was a freaky asylum escapee by the name of Michael Myers. And as scary as Austin Powers is, I’m not talking about the wacky comedian.
In 1978, John Carpenter cooked up the wicked spook fest Halloween starring a knife-wielding psychopath who made Jamie Lee Curtis (and everyone else) shriek. Now, in time for the holiday, the original film is returning to theaters, digitally remastered and featured in high-definition.
According to Entertainment Tonight, for the first time in 28 years, Halloween is coming home to the big screen. The horror flick will be shown in 150 movie houses on October 30th and October 31st at 8:00pm, and will be introduced with a 20-minute featurette including original cast interviews and additional perks.
Halloween, the hit film about murderous Michael Myers, has launched seven sequels, but none have been able to top the goosebumps of the first installment. Nonetheless, people will keep trying: Rob Zombie is writing and directing Halloween 9, coming to theaters sometime next year.
