Warner Bros. is moving forward in its attempt to duplicate Twilight’s vampire romance success, but with werewolves. Ironically, the LA Times says they’ve hired Catherine Hardwicke, who directed the first Twilight movie to helm it. They’re calling the film The Girl With the Red Riding Hood and classifying it as a modern spin on the classic, Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale. A modern spin with a lot of angsty romance. Does little Red fall for the wolf? But it ate her grandma! Gross.

With Hardwicke in place they’re ready to start casting and word is that at the top of their list is Mamma Mia! and Jennifer’s Body star Amanda Seyfried. They think they can make her the next Kristen Stewart. I hope they don’t.

Amanda Seyfried is one of the most talented young actresses working in Hollywood. You wouldn’t know, since she’s mostly only taken thankless roles in horrible films, or good films where she’s the second banana best friend. But the girl genuinely has talent, too much talent to waste it on a tween franchise. Maybe she’ll get a chance to show it in the upcoming indie Chloe, but I fear that if she gets even more hooked on those tween-generated paychecks than she already is, there’s no coming back. Wasn’t Dear John bad enough Amanda? You’re better than this.
