Catherine Keener is one of those rare actors who is worth watching no matter what movie she's in, whether it's meta weirdness like Synecdoche, New York or sappy stupidity like The Soloist (trust me on this one). So while I could bemoan the fact that she's taking roles in movies as silly-sounding as Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, I'm just glad she'll be there to give us something worth watching.

According to THR, Keener will play the mother of main character Percy Jackson, who discovers as an adolescent that he's actually the son of Poseidon. Mom has struggled to keep Percy out of the ongoing god wars, but at the same age that some kids discover they're wizards and head off to Hogwarts, Percy gets tossed into the mythical kingdom full-force.
