Channing Tatum, Al Pacino In Latest Trailer For Cop Drama The Son Of No One
Channing Tatum has a mustache. Al Pacino has a mustache. Ray Liotta? No mustache. He must not have received the memo prior to the three actors joining forces on the corrupt-cops drama The Son of No One. Writer-director Dito Montiel’s picture played this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and while it has yet to announce a U.S. release date, a spiffy new trailer has been posted on Fandango. We have it below:
In Montiel’s modern noir, Tatum plays White (I’m serious), a young cop caught up in a department-wide scandal involving unsolved murders that veteran detective Stanford (Pacino) likely wants to keep buried. When details begin emerging regarding the cold cases, White's wife (Katie Holmes) and child end up at risk. The cast is formidable, with Juliette Binoche rounding out the ensemble, and crooked cops are always good fodder for a gritty urban street tale, from Brooklyn’s Finest to the seedy back alleys of Training Day. But The Son Of No One better hurry if it hopes to have an impact, because everything we’re hearing about Oren Moverman’s Rampart, which just played the Toronto International Film Festival, is that Woody Harrelson’s on fire in yet another dirty-police thriller. And if that one reaches theaters first, Son could get left on the doorstep, no matter how good it ends up being. |
