Channing Tatum Now In Talks For 21 Jump Street![]()
Though the project has been in development for what feels like forever, very little headway has been made on the film adaptation of 21 Jump Street. Based on the 80s Johnny Depp television series, Jonah Hill has been attached to the project since 2008 and, to this day, remains lonely on the cast list. Now that may change.
Deadline reports that Channing Tatum is now in talks to star in the film that has been written by Hill and Michael Bacall and will be directed by Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Last we heard, Emma Stone, fresh off the critical smash Easy A, was being looked at by Sony for the role, but there have yet to be any papers signed (though the same story said that Stone was up for a role in the Spider-Man reboot and that worked out quite well). Word is that Tatum was tested alongside Hill and that the two had some positive chemistry, and that he'll play Hill's partner Jenko in the film. Even if they have chemistry, it's hard to be excited about this idea. Channing has an acting range that goes from oak to ceder and has made his name more as a pretty face than a talented actor, though I must say that I've always heard positive notes about his turn in A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints. Until I add that movie to my Netflix queue, however, I'm going to base his abilities off of what I've seen of him in movies like She's The Man. |
