Charlie Day In Talks For Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim![]()
When I think of Guillermo del Toro, comedy isn't the first thing that pops in my mind. Don't get me wrong, the man is a riot in person and there were some moments in the Hellboy movies that made me howl, but humor has never really been the central focus in his movies. Hence why the most recent Pacific Rim casting news is quite peculiar.
Variety reports that Charlie Day, star of It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia and the upcoming Horrible Bosses, in now in talks to join del Toro's monster movie. Should he sign on, the actor will play a professor, though there are no other details available and Legendary Pictures refused comment. Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam is already set to star in the Travis Beacham-scripted film about giant creatures that rise out of the Pacific Ocean and attack coastal cities. A bit strange, no? While I suppose it's possible that Day is interested in stretching his dramatic muscle, I think it's much more likely that aforementioned professor will be a comic relief character. Shame that we probably won't find out until 2013. |
