Back when Ridley Scott's Prometheus was still the Alien prequel, a story broke that said that while the director was adamant about having Swedish actress Noomi Rapace as his star, the studio wanted Charlize Theron. When it was finally announced that the project would be an original piece and Noomi Rapace was confirmed to star, however, it was reported that Theron, along with Angelina Jolie was being considered for the film's other major female lead. Now it looks like that's become a relality.

THR is reporting that Charlize Theron is now in final negotiations for a role in Ridley Scott's return to sci-fi. While the article doesn't specify, the other major female role other than Elizabeth Shaw, whom Rapace will be playing, is a character named Vickers. Damon Lindelof is continuing to work on the script with Ridley Scott and the film is scheduled for a release date on June 8, 2012. Michael Fassbender will also be starring in the film.

Considering that we know absolutely nothing about the film's plot or Theron's character it's hard to get too excited over this news, but it did give me the opportunity to Google images of one of the most beautiful actresses working today, and I refuse to complain about that.
