The last time Jason Reitman and Diablo got together for a movie, Juno happened. Will Young Adult have the same success? Between the cast, the story description, and now this creative and amusing one-sheet, the movie certainly has a lot going for it already.

Written by Cody and directed by Reitman, Young Adult stars Charlize Theron, who plays a young adult novel writer with a drinking problem. On a whim, perhaps after having been overexposed to her own genre, she decides to return to her hometown and pursue her high school boyfriend, played by Patrick Wilson. The fact that he’s married with a child throws a wrench in the plan. At some point, Theron’s character links up with another person she went to school with, played by Patton Oswalt.

Here’s the poster which depicts a woman (presumably Theron) passed out on a bed, while her fluffy (and probably neglected) little dog watches on with concern. The best part is that the photo is set on the cover of a book that looks like it would fit in perfectly in the young adult section of a book store or library. Be sure to click on the poster to see it in high-res!

Young Adult is due to hit theaters late this year. I’m excited to see what the previews look like. From the description, one might draw comparisons to other stories about women returning to their hometowns and finding problems (Sweet Home Alabama, Hope Floats), but with Cody writing and Reitman directing, I’m expecting something a little bit darker, with an edge.
