Chevy Chases Crap Superheroes

By Joshua Tyler: 2005-05-26 00:00:00
It’s fun to bag on Chevy Chase, but there was a time when the guy was really something. I was a huge fan, and though I’m ashamed to admit it I even liked the “Chevy Chase Show”. The fish tank behind the desk was genius!

But these days he treats his career with as much respect as we do. His last on screen appearance was a brief cameo in 2002’s Orange County and before that it was nothing but a string of really bad films. Chevy is remaining consistent, by agreeing to appear in yet another really bad film opposite Tim Allen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chase has signed on board the probably horrible Tim Allen/Courtney Cox movie Zoom. You might remember it’s plot from such movies as The Incredibles, Sky High, Baby Geniuses (both one and two), Spy Kids, and any movie in which kids save the world. I guess Thunderbirds and most of the non-Star Trek career of Jonathan Frakes fits in there too. It features Allen as an out of shape superhero forced to come out of retirement to train a ragtag bunch of child super beings into the next generation of world saving superheroes.

Superheroes who aren’t Spider-Man are such a beating. Columbia Pictures is releasing this thing in May 2006 anyway.
