Chris Evans Stares Down A Train Filled With Baddies In Snowpiercer Trailer
“Curtis, this is your destiny.”
I often complain that trailers show us too much. (Gravity, I’m looking at you and the series of clips you recently revealed on behalf of Alfonso Cuaron’s thriller.) So while this 47-second clip shared via The Playlist sets the tone of Bong Joon-Ho’s Snowpiercer, it spoils very little … and for that, I’m thankful.
Joon-Ho directed the creature feature The Host, and is moving on to this futuristic thriller where the bulk of our planet’s society have been eliminated by an experimental (and dangerous) global-warming project. Now, members of an evolving class ensemble fight to survive aboard the Snowpiercer, a train that circle the globe via a perpetual-motion engine.
What you’ll notice in the clip, however, is the presence of Chris Evans in a non-Captain America role. Which is interesting, because Evans usually toes the party line that he does Marvel movies to fund the non-superhero films … and yet Snowpiercer looks like it will rely on him kicking ass and taking names—only without a shield or a mask. The same theme was reflected in the initial footage, which hit a few weeks back.
What we don’t see in this trailer are Evans’ cast members, and they are impressive. He’ll be joined in Snowpiercer by Tilda Swinton, John Hurt, Ed Harris, Octavia Spencer, Alison Pill and Jamie Bell. Some of them surfaced in the character posters we shared earlier. We still don’t have a release date for Snowpiercer, but The Weinstein Company should find the right slot soon.
