The Oscars are being hosted by someone young and hip this year, probably to get “the kids” to watch. Never mind that Chris Rock is pushing 40.

Yep, that’s right. Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, Whoopee Goldberg and the traditional hosting gang is out and often offensive comedian Chris Rock is in. Rock is of course a terrible actor, but also one of the most talented comedians of his or any other generation. Since Oscar hosting should require more joke telling than acting, he might be great… if he can resist getting too harsh with his notoriously humorless Hollywood audience. Knowing Chris, he may just go too far and find himself in an Oprah/Uma debacle. Should be fun for us, the sweating will be all on him.
