Christian Bale For President!![]()
You never would have guessed it when he was starring in movies like American Psycho and Velvet Goldmine, but Christian Bale is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in high-profile, big-budget Hollywood movies. So it makes sense that he would be the choice to replace Tom Cruise in The 28th Amendment, a movie that practically screams “summer tentpole.”
Moviehole.net has it on good authority that Warner Bros. is considering Bale as a replacement for Cruise, who left the project for good today when he announced that he would start work on Edwin A. Salt instead (you can read our report on that movie here). Honestly, the 28th Amendment movie sounds more interesting, if perhaps a little National Treasure-esque. Bale would play the U.S. President who discovers there is a secret conspiracy intending to assassinate him. The 28th Amendment of the title, if you know your U.S. history, doesn’t exist. Ooooh, what kind of crazy amendments has this fictional Congress come up with? I’m honestly a little worried about Christian Bale overextending himself, with a likely third Batman movie and his commitment to Terminator 4. Will he have time to do smaller movies like Rescue Dawn, in which he reminds us what a phenomenal and committed actor he is? But really, it would be crazy not to demand more Bale, particularly President Bale. Would he be the first foreign-born actor to play an American President? Can someone with better Google skills look that one up for me? |
