Cinema Expo Brings First Look At Watchmen Posters![]()
The Cinema Expo in Amsterdam is bringing a lot of first looks at marketing and posters for upcoming movies. What isn’t known is whether these will actually be used in the US to market these movies of if they were just put together to promote films for the Cinema Expo. While the G.I. Joe character posters have been pretty cool to see, I’m a little less excited by the first look at posters for Watchmen, one of my most anticipated movies.
Like those G.I. Joe posters, these are character posters, featuring Rorschach and The Comedian. While I’m not crazy about them, the posters do some things right. I love the way they emulate the original comic book covers with the Watchmen logo and title along the left side of the poster. What I’m not crazy about is the live action image that’s been placed with that comic book feel. I’m sorry, Rorschach standing alone in the dark doesn’t look half as intimidating as that character should be. Thankfully the shot of The Comedian is a little more action-packed, capturing the feel of that character. I really hope these aren’t teaser posters for the movie and were just put together to have some form of marketing presence at Cinema Expo. For now, they’re what we have, disappointing or not.
