Since she shut down "Sex in the City" and left television, Sarah Jessica Parker has become known more as a Gap pitchwoman than anything else. It's not because she isn't working.

Production Weekly reports that Parker has signed up to topline the film Spinning into Butter when shooting starts this September. Based on a play by someone you've never heard of unless you're some sort of theater aficionado (if so what are you doing here, you deserve a movie site much more high class), the film will take a page from the under-watched, brilliant movie Crash by exploring racism in America today. Set on a college campus it’s the story of Sarah Daniels, a dean of students investigating the harassment of the school's handful of black students.

Sarah explores her feelings about racism and we wish for a cameo by Matthew Broderick. This sounds like exactly the sort of racism exploration people shy away from. Preachy, postulant, and self-serving it sounds like the kind of movie Crash is not. Perhaps having been bitten by movies like this before is what's keeping audiences away from that film's genius. Should Sarah Jessica Parker actually spin around naked in some butter, it might make the film worth seeing.
