From the very start of pre-production, the sequel to 2010's Clash of the Titans was called Wrath of the Titans. The project operated under that title for months as new names like Bill Nighy, Edgar Ramirez and Rosamund Pike joined the cast alongside old names like Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson. Then, mysteriously, a press release came out revealing the plot synopsis for the film, and it was revealed that the project's title had been changed to the simple, clean Clash of the Titans 2. Now the project has a creative title again, but it might sound a little familiar...

Exhibitor Relations (via Coming Soon) has learned that Warner Bros. has once again titled the Clash of the Titans sequel Wrath of the Titans. Directed by Battle: Los Angles-helmer Jonathan Liebesman, the sequel is set 10 years after the end of the first film, when Perseus (Worthington) defeated the Kraken. Though Perseus is trying to live a quiet life with his young son, events transpiring on Mount Olympus disrupt his peace. Because of the humans' fading faith, the gods can no longer contain the Titans that they have imprisoned, including Kronos, father of Zeus (Neeson), Poseidon (Danny Huston) and Hades (Ralph Fiennes). Betraying Zeus (who also happens to be his father), Ares (Ramierez) teams up with Kronos to imprison Zeus. Teaming up with Queen Andromeda (Pike), Argenor (Toby Kebbell), son of Poseidon, and Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), a fallen god, Perseus heads into Hades to rescue the king of the Gods. Wrath of the Titans is set to be released on March 30, 2012.

I'm still not entirely sure why we need (or who's requesting) a sequel to Clash of the Titans, but at least it will have a somewhat interesting title.
