Based on the film’s two trailers, it’s safe to say that Clash of the Titans is going to be pretty epic. Or is it? We got a taste of the wide assortment of gods, creatures and action sequences but director Louis Leterrier wants more and the film’s star, Sam Worthington, is happy to oblige.

At a special screening of Avatar, Hero Complex (via First Showing) had a chat with Worthington that went way beyond Pandora. Worthington explained that Warner Bros. is so pleased with Leterrier’s work, they’ve agreed to up the budget so more can be done before the March 26th release. He said, “We're going to be going back and shooting more scenes for it, they cut loose with some money so we can add to it.” He continued, “We're going to be shooting more scenes in January, so we're going to be right up against it -- the movie comes out in March.”

Shooting in January for a film with a March release? Something doesn’t sound right to me nor did it sound right to Hero Complex. When questioning Worthington on whether the additional work is enthusiasm-driven or if it’s a last minute attempt to make the film what we all hope it to be, Worthington admitted that they will devote some of the time to improving the film’s weak spots, but stressed the extra effort stemmed from the studio’s high hopes for the film. He added, “There were some creaky parts but they are the parts that we knew were creaky and that we knew were going to be creaky going into it. The studio is also letting us add some gods and scenes. And they're talking about making the movie a 3D film.”

3D? Is that really possible in just three months? I don’t know much about the technology in terms of the production process, but it seems like way too much work to get done before March especially on top of adding more ‘gods and scenes.’ If this really is an attempt to make the film even better, good for them, but when’s the last time you’ve heard of a film going into last minute reshoots that wasn’t plagued with problems?
